Basaldella The three brothers, Dino, Afro and Mirko , brought together in a major retrospective in over twenty years later than in the Gallery of Modern Art in Udine devoted their way back in 1987. With the aim of updating with what's new in the meantime it was discovered on them and also with the introduction of some new Afro and Mirko.

The exhibition "Basaldella. Dino, Mirko, Afro", strongly supported by the Friuli Venezia Giulia and Villa Manin by the special, is curated by Giuseppe Appella, Fabrizio D'Amico, Marco Goldin and organized by Shadow Line . E 'hosted in Passariano from 27 March to 29 August 2010, in the same premises which have recently presented the successful exhibitions on Zigaina Joseph and "The Age of Courbet and Monet."

In recent years exhibitions, important too, in Italy and worldwide, dedicated to three artists, the children of Leo Basaldella, Udine painter decorator, died because of War in '19, there has been no shortage. Many on Afro (1912-1976), less numerous but equally important to Dino (1909-1977) and Mirko (1910-1969). The publication of the catalog of the work of Afro revealed previously unknown works and studies have offered reasons of great interest to make it even more fascinating and chaotic the already complex "world of Basaldella.

The exhibition aims to make the synthesis of three different personality and is so highly complex and present it through about one hundred and seventy works, from the famous to the up to date and never shown to the public interest.

The exhibition traces the artistic whole story of three brothers, common to Udine in the beginning of the "School of Friuli-edge", the years spent at Monza and Milan, the Roman ones, where Afro and Mirko will be established, even with frequent, renewed and active living in his native land, until, for each of the three, the years of maturity and those later.

The exhibition of the works, following a chronological order, aims to highlight the relationship that the three artists will step forward to shake, even in emerging linguistic.

The works come from some of the largest Italian public collections, including the National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art and the Municipal Gallery of Modern Art in Rome, the Museo Civico di Pordenone Revoltella the Civic Museum in Trieste, the GAM of Turin, the Bank of Italy, the Foundation Toti Scialoja of Rome, Galleria Internazionale d'Arte Moderna Ca 'Pesaro, MUSMA of Matera, Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Udine e Pordenone. Of crucial importance is also the co Afro Archives of Rome and many nuclei collectable, family or historical, of the three brothers Basaldella. From which will come as well as some valuable unpublished Afro, belonging to the thirties and an original "Portrait of Capogrossi" molded in clay by Mirko in 1939, the Foundation's Archive of Rome Capogrossi.

Company Villa Manin for this special exhibition commissioned an extraordinary photographic that for the first time, you can admire reproduced in color in the catalog all the sculptures of Dino and Mirko Basaldella. There are also many paintings of Afro who were re-photographed to ensure better fidelity in color reproduction.

The exhibition catalog, published by Linea d'ombra Libri, is coordinated by Marco Goldin together with Giuseppe Appella and Fabrizio D'Amico, with essays by curators and extensive bio-bibliographic revisited by Lara Conte, Bruna Fontana Gianni Schiavon.

This exhibition confirms the commitment of the Region to make Villa Doge, through the Special Villa Manin, the landmark artistic Friuli Venezia Giulia, open to collaboration with other agencies and local artists projected to reach a European dimension.
